WeChat 6.0 Introduces Video Sharing and iOS Passbook-like Digi-card Holder

WeChat just released the version 6.0 on App Store that has added video shooting & sharing, an iOS Passbook-like digi-card holder, gesture password system for payments, a redesigned game center, among others. The Android version is expected to be available to everyone later.

– Apart from text and voice, now users can shoot 6-second videos during a chat session, or share shoots with other contacts or onto Moment, the content sharing platform within WeChat.

Alibaba Buys 15% Stake in Hotel Tech Service Shiji to Strengthen Forays into Online Travel Market

Alibaba Group, the Chinese Internet giant that just closed a record-breaking US$25 billion IPO, has invested 2.81 billion yuan (around US$ 459 million) in Chinese hospitality information provider Beijing Shiji Information Technology Co., Ltd. via its online marketplace Taobao.

After the deal, Alibaba will hold a 15% stake and one position in board of directors in the latter.

Jack Ma set to cash-out up to $867 million in tomorrow’s Alibaba IPO

When Alibaba hits the US markets tomorrow, the ecommerce titan’s diminutive founder, Jack Ma, is set for a huge windfall. Ma has previously indicated that he’ll cash-out 12.75 million shares during the listing. Because Alibaba raised its share price range earlier this week, it means Ma will make even more than anticipated. So if Alibaba debuts at the top of its range, which is $68 per share, then Ma will pocket US$867 million.

Just a week ago, H&M took a slightly different approach in its China expansion by launching a standalone online shopping store for China.

WeChat Has Enabled Payments at Physical Stores

A new payments capability has been added on WeChat, the leading Chinese mobile messaging app, that enables payments at physical stores.

The feature is named “Card Swiping”. With a tap on the button, a QR code and a bar code will be generated. Merchants who have supporting POS machines or other devices will be able to accept payments by scanning either code.

So far the WeChat feature only supports debit cards bundled with WeChat accounts, instead of credit cards.

Payments under RMB300 (about US$50) don’t require password.

　一晩ずっと触って、各種機能を試した感想は三点。一つは、「iPhone 3GSは、やっぱりApple Inc.のiPodだということ」。二つ目は「そのiPodは、（私にとって）とてつもなくお金のかかるiPodだということ」。そして、三つ目は、「iPodはiTunesの携帯端末であるということ」です。

After using it all night and trying various functions, I have three things to say. First, the iPhone 3GS is an iPod from Apple Inc., after all. Second, that iPod is an iPod that costs me incredibly lots of money (for me). And third, iPods are portable iTunes terminals.

The favorable pricing that practically leaves you with no choice but to buy an iPhone if you are buying a Softbank phone.

But there was one thing that bothered me... though it might be nothing.

There were some occasions when it was out of range where my old Softbank phone had

reception. It might have been just a coincidence.

But this is the best mobile phone! Definitely!

I think this is about personal preference but I think it's great.

It's simple and awesome!


*Portability

I think it's good. I keep it in my pants pocket but

the size doesn't bother me. Considering its screen size,

I think is rather compact.

This needs some practice but good. Like PC,
