On Ward's series, the draughtsmanship was simple, and the characters were so barely-animated that they seemed to slide across the screen, like figures in a pop-up book. This movie, in contrast, goes for the glitzy, the state-of-the-art. The designs are highly stylized, but with incongruous elements. The realistic shadings and blockbuster action-film-style (virtual) camerawork seem at odds with the movie's Eisenhower-Kennedy era cars, clothes, hairstyles and architecture; ditto the characters with their Ward-style bobble-heads and sticklike bodies and arms.

Trong series Ward, công việc phác thảo khá đơn giản, và các nhân vật rất ít khi chuyển động mà gần như là trượt khỏi khung hình, như hình nhân vật trong kiểu sách pop-up (3D). Bộ phim này thì ngược lại, theo đuổi cái rắc rối, hiện đại nhất. Các mẫu thiết kế có phong cách riêng biệt nhưng đi kèm các yếu tố phi lý. Cách thức tô màu thực tế và các sử dụng kỹ thuật camera của các bộ phim bom tấn (ảo) có vẻ không phù hợp với các loại xe, quần áo, kiểu tóc và kiếu trúc thời kỳ Eisenhower-Kennedy cùng với các nhân vật theo kiểu Ward với quả đầu hình cầu và thân hình với chân tay trông như cây que.
