薬師三尊像が祀られているのはこちらの金堂です。
かつての戦火に焼け落ち、４００年以上仮堂のままの状態だったため、金堂再建は歴代の薬師寺住職たちの悲願だったと言います。

この金堂は1967年からおよそ１０年の歳月をかけて、高田好胤師が全国で１００万巻の写経を集めることで資金を工面し、白鳳時代様式の本格的な金堂として復興しました。


金堂の中に祀られた薬師三尊像。
見るものが思わず息を飲む荘厳な雰囲気です。

薬師三尊とは、仏教における仏像安置の形式の一つ。

The hall that is enshrined Yakushi 3-great statue is this golden hall.
It had once burnt off during the war, and remained to be temporary hall for more than 400 years, so the restoration of the golden hall was the desire of the chronological head of the priests.

This golden hall was restored as the authentic designed building of Hakuho era, by Koin Takada raising the funds by collecting 1 million hand-copied sutra books nationwide, taking 10 years from 1967.
