I just got off the phone with the US Post office. They said it is likely sitting at customs in Japan. Until it clears customs the label is not scanned and forwarded to the processing facility in Japan and therefore would not show up on the records on the Japan side. They asked that I give it a few days and then call them back. I am very sure you will get the car soon.
