ジャッキーさんは１９９８年、夫で元米海兵隊岩国基地隊員のマークさん(46)の赴任に伴い岩国市へ。４人の子どもを育てながら英会話や料理などを教えてきた。「互いに関心があっても、日本人が基地に入るには手続きが煩雑で、米国人が市内の施設を借りるには語学のハンディがある。もっと自由に行き来できる場所を作りたかった」と開設の理由を話す。

施設内の設備は３時間４千円から貸し出すほか、講師と生徒を日米双方から募集し、英会話や料理、手芸、生け花などのレッスンを開講していく予定だ。

Jackie came to Iwakuni city with her husband Mark (46) formerly U.S Marine stationed to Iwakuni Base in 1998. She has been teaching English conversation and cooking as she raised her four children. "even if we are interested in each other, the procedures to enter to the base is complicated for Japanese and American have a language handicap to rent facilities in the city. I wanted to make a place where we can associate with each other" she tells the reasons to set up.

Equipments of the facilities will rent out from 4,000 yen for three hours and recruit teachers and students from both of Japan and America and we are planning to open courses of English conversation, cooking, handicrafts, flower arrangement and so on.
