English

Japanese dolls.

Japanese dolls are the dolls with traditional Japanese hairstyle (two sides of the hair stick out until it curves to the back. The hair is pulled in the back as well in the front). So to speak, they are specifically called "Japanese" dolls for introducing Japanese traditional culture and customs.

A girl figure doll with her hair hanging down would be a typical image of Japanese dolls. They are probably the ones called "Ichimatsu dolls", when this Ichimatsu dolls has been sent to Unites states as an ambassador doll in 1927, it had an attached article which said "Japanese doll". Since then, Ichimatsu dolls are becoming a synonym for Japanese dolls.
