Out of 4.6M wearables shipped in 2014, only 720K were Android smartwatches

As hype over the Apple Watch reaches a boiling point ahead of its April on-sale date, it’s easy to forget that we have yet to enter the age of the smartwatch. It certainly didn’t start in 2014.

By far the most prevalent smartwatch OS is Android Wear, and a new report by Canalys Research said only 720,000 Android Wear devices shipped in 2014 out of a total of 4.6 million smart wearable bands sold.

Motorola’s Moto 360 led the pack in sales of Android Wear smartwatches. The 360 sold very well until fourth quarter of last year, until it ran into some supply chain issues at the end of the year, Canalys said.

Tech in Asia’s attempts to register on the site to glimpse at how it functions haven’t been successful. The Facebook login feature didn’t work, neither did the registration form.

I store this car elevated. While this toy has been with me it has never been displayed resting on its four tires - I suggest the new owner display it in the same manner to avoid the tires acquiring flat spots - Many of the large Japanese Tim toys were susceptible to this type of wear because of the weight of the toy, the tire compounds and choice of storage. The colors and graphics are in really nice shape compared to others I've seen in my collecting days.

The strategy received a major setback last year when banking
giant HSBC pulled out of an $8 billion deal to buy Old Mutual's
majority stake in Nedbank NEDJ.J, South Africa's fourth
biggest lender.

Julian Roberts said the company　was now working on improving Nedbank's performance, but declined　to comment on whether it still intended to sell the business.

"It's very much a focus on improving the returns for the　business," he told reporters on a conference call.
Selling Nedbank to HSBC, seen as the most important part of
Old Mutual's simplification strategy, would have freed the
company to focus on life insurance and asset management, and its
failure came as a disappointment to shareholders.

Twitter is in talks to buy stealth personalization startup Bottlenose for an undisclosed sum, sources close to the matter told Mashable. The companies are said to be in the process of discussing acquisition terms.

Bottlenose, which bills itself as the “the smartest way to personalize and filter Twitter,” hails from serial startup founders Dominiek ter Heide and Nova Spivack. The startup created a Twitter account and splash page in late August but is keeping the site on lockdown until early spring 2011.
