Startup’s drone soars for hours on wind power alone

Although small commercial drones are getting more and more sophisticated with each passing month, most these days have a maximum battery life of around 20 minutes or so. But one startup has a plan for drones that can stay aloft for hours.

The company, Newport Beach, California’s XAir Unmanned Aerial Systems, has built a prototype fixed-wing drone that it says harnesses wind power to keep it in the air for hours at a time.
