Social Media Fest 2012 highlights: create and collaborate

Social Media fest 2012 in Jakarta highlighted the biggest offline gathering of social media users in the country.

Social Media Fest, the biggest social media event in Indonesia, saw 100,000 participants from 130 online communities, 22 tech startups, and content creators last October 12 to 14. The event was also graced by delegates from the industry: infrastructure and service providers, media outlets and e-sellers from Forum Jual Beli Kaskus. This is a significant growth from last year’s 44,000 attendees.

2012年度ソーシャルメディア祭　ハイライト：創造と協調

ジャカルタで開かれた2012年度ソーシャルメディア祭は、ソーシャルメディアユーザーのオフラインの集会としては国内で最大の規模となった。

ソーシャルメディア祭は、インドネシアの最大のソーシャルメディアのイベントで、130のオンラインコミュニティー、22の技術系新興企業、そしてコンテンツクリエイターたちを含む100,000人の参加者が集まり、9月の12日から14日の間開催された。さらには産業界からの代表者たちも加わり、豪華なものとなった。その中には、インフラ企業やプロバイダー、放送局やKaskus（インドネシアのオンラインコミュニティ）のJual Beli（インドネシア語で売買、Kaskusの中のコミュニティか？）のフォーラムの売り手たちなどがいた。去年の参加者44,000人から比べて大きな前進といえる。

The event was organized by two of the biggest local communities in the country, Kaskus itself, and SalingSilang, with participation from DailySocial. The theme this year is “Create and Collaborate.” The event supports Internet freedom, high-tech entrepreneurship and innovation. Prior to the festive three-day event, the organizers conducted roadshows in several private universities across Jakarta to raise awareness on the importance of social media for one’s personal and professional lives.

このイベントは国内で最大の二つのコミュニティーが企画したものだ。一つはKaskus、もう一つはSalingSilang で、DailySocial からの参加者も含んでいる。今年のテーマは｢創造と協調｣。インターネットの自由とハイテク新興企業、技術革新を応援しようというイベントだ。三日間の本番に先がけて、企画者たちはジャカルタのいくつかの私立大学を回って説明会を開き、ソーシャルメディアの公私における重要性を説明した。

Some stand-out startups wereMindTalk, GantiBaju, INAICTA nominee Yotomo, Updaterus, LewatMana, BangkrutBos, WishKoo, and the winner of this year SparxUp, DapurMasakWujudkan.

Cinemacraft Launches Videogram: A Slick, Multi-Thumbnail Web Video Interface

Yesterday we mentioned Taiwan-based startup Cubie, which had been accepted into the 500 Startups Accelerator program. Another Asia-based company that is also joining the program is Cinemacraft. In addition to making the shift to Silicon Valley, the startup has just released Videogram, a service that gives users a pictorial summary of the a video using an almost comic book-style, multi-panel display.
