火山の影響で天然の温湧水が常時流入し、現在もなおヨシが越冬と繁殖を続けている琵琶湖において、冬季のヨシの生残と水温、気温の関係を調査した

冬期間に琵琶湖で湧き出た温水は8℃であった

最低気温が0℃のときに最低水温が6℃が保たれており、ここではヨシが越冬できた

冬季の最低水温が7℃以上を維持する場所では温湧水でも温排水でも熱帯産のヨシは越冬できるものと考えられる

ヨシの越冬には冬季に最低水温6℃以上が必要である。そして、温排水及び温湧水などがあれば、この条件を満たしヨシは越冬できる

Translation

At Lake Biwa, where phragmites winters and propagates depending on the warm water naturally and steadily springing due to the influence of the volcano, I have made a research on the relationship between the species' survival and the atmosphere temperature during the winter.

In winter, the water springing to Lake Biwa was 8 degrees Celsius.

When the minimum air temperature was 0 degrees, the spring water was stable at 6 degrees; phragmites was able to overwinter at such environment.

In case of an environment where the minimum temperature of water is above 7 degrees during winter, a tropical phragmites seems to be able to pass the winter. The water is warm enough, it does not matter if it is a spring water or a discharged one.

In order for the phragmites to overwinter, the water must be over 6 degrees Celsius. If there are warm spring water or a warm discharged water, the condition is qualified for phragmites to survive.
