As a self-published freelance writer on Amazon (KDP) I have a lot of experience at proofreading and editing several manuscripts and texts. When it comes to a text-flow even the smallest detail can be important and make a difference. In addition to proofreading your work I'm also offering to give you feedback on potential plot-holes, character development as well as emphasizing your skills (because motivation is vital for every writer). Since it’s common courtesy – whether it be online or offline – let me give you a brief self-introduction: My name is Anna, I’m a 33 years old writer. When it comes to my work as a writer, translator and editor I’m very adaptable, devoted and sincere. Turning my passion for writing into my profession convinces me that I’ll be able to take up any project and make it a success.
In July 2014 I started to self-publish my books under the pen name of Rena Zebann on Amazon (KDP Kindle Direct Publishing), even creating my own brand (Wildflower Publishing). Ever since my first book release I’ve become more and more serious about my work and now I would like to expand my scope of work.
My publishing experiences have not only refined my writing, translating and editing skills but they also enabled me to learn other valuable lessons. It requires hard work, discipline and most of all the willingness to keep going even when you encounter a writer’s block. But it also includes growth.
Here are some of the hard skills I had to learn:
• translating manuscripts/ texts from English to German
• translating manuscripts/ texts from German to English
• coming up with concepts (backgrounds, world-building, history, character profiles, etc.)
• research (general plot, places, history)
• research names, titles etc.
• drafting of a storyline/ content
• proofreading (several times even during the writing process to refine, avoid inconsistency/ plot-holes)
• editing (final draft)
• formatting (paperback, hardcover and ebook versions)
• Coverdesign
• writing a synopsis
• publishing/ uploading the finished manuscript (with the given deadline/schedule in mind)
• marketing on social media (promoting by means of giveaways such as bookmarks etc.)
• follow-up on reviews
Soft skills I acquired along with them:
• organizing/ scheduling (taking proper steps in the right order)
