I am interested in languages. I enjoy to do translations. I can best translate from English to German.
Since 2009 I have been teaching English and art at a primary and comprehensive school in Hamburg, Germany. I have a part-time contract; currently I am not at school due to Covid-19 and I am wondering if I should devote more time to translating, even though I enjoy teaching a lot.
I attended a translation evening course in Hamburg for several semesters, which I really enjoyed, too.
I was born in Hamburg in 1980. I received my Abitur (German A-levels) in 2000.
A stay in London for almost a year (2000/2001) has made me pay more attention to languages, cultures and social issues. At first I was an au-pair, later I worked as a receptionist at a traveller’s hostel. Back in Hamburg I enjoyed doing editorial internships, for example at TV-show Top of the Pops and local radio stations.
Furthermore, I studied Anglistics, American English and Systematic Musicology at the University of Hamburg – I graduated with a Master's degree in Nov 2009. I have been teaching children and young adults English and art since. Every day anew, they teach me to place great emphasis on the right tone when dealing with human beings. That is truly beneficial when it comes to translations, too.
