Help Malaysian taxi app MyTeksi collect toys and books for needy kids
Citizens of Klang Valley can pledge books and toys using the MyTeksi app, which will be ferried by taxis to its HQ. Participate to give back
MyTeksi, a Malaysian mobile taxi app, has collaborated with non-governmental organisation Science of Life Studies 24/7 (SOLS 24/7) for an initiative aimed at providing English books and used toys to needy children in rural communities. Limited to donors in the Klang Valley area, the campaign will help more than 2,000 children.

The initiative will only take place on weekends. It will require donors to pledge five toys or English children’s books suitable for ages 8 to 14. Donors can participate using the MyTeksi app by making a booking from their location to the MyTeksi headquarters (MYTEKSI HQ). Taxis will then ferry the donations to the headquarters, and its fare will be borne by MyTeksi upon the driver’s arrival. All donations will be handed over to SOLS 24/7 for distribution.
Cheryl Goh, Regional Marketing Head, MyTeksi said that the aim is to collect enough toys and books from the general public to fill up 20 toy libraries in rural areas such as Minusuh (Sabah), Kulim (Kedah) and Sungai Suloh (Johor Bahru). She added, “By leveraging on our large network of taxis, donating is now really convenient as our taxis will help collect the donations from the donor’s home over four weekends.”
With two weekends to go, Goh told e27 that they have received several hundred toys and books from close to 100 donors.
Co-founder and Director of SOLS 24/7, Raj Ridvan Singh also commented on the campaign. He said, “A lot of children in under-served communities would benefit greatly from the donated toys and books; we really believe that through this effort the livelihood of these children will be that bit brighter.”
