Apple is currently on schedule to launch a revised fifth-generation iPad in September, a new rumor claims, while features of the second-generation iPad mini, such as a potential Retina display, may still be in flux.

The details were relayed by the usual supply chain sources to DigiTimes, a Taiwanese tech industry publication frequently skewered for its track record. On Monday, the publication said that a new 9.7-inch iPad is planned to debut in September with a slimmer bezel, as has been rumored.

Rakuten Sees Huge Growth in Malaysia

Today DigitalNewsAsia reports that Japan-based e-commerce site Rakuten (4755:JP) is making solid progress in Malaysia. Not only is the company recording strong growth on its Rakuten.com.my site, but they also revealed their plans in the Asia-Pacific region.

But these mostly focus on the doctor and the patient, and there’s not exactly future-proofing in these startups. Don’t get me wrong, I like being able to consult with professionals online. But thinking about the next generation, I can’t help but wonder how the doctors of the future will work. Will they have a handheld gadget that detects all ailments like Dr. Bones McCoy in Star Trek?

According to Jossy, 35 percent of medical students in the country drop out of school, and 20 percent of the total drop out because of lack of funds. Case in point, in the Philippines, it costs about US$2,500 per semester for tuition alone. In Singapore, this would be about US$7,600 per semester.
