対戦型格闘ゲーム（たいせんがたかくとうゲーム）とは、プレイヤーとコンピュータ、あるいはプレイヤー同士が操作するキャラクターが、主に1対1の格闘技（もしくはそれに類する形式）で戦う対戦型コンピュータゲームである。


単に格闘ゲーム、対戦ゲーム、格ゲーと略されることや、格闘アクションゲームという別称で呼ばれることもある。大別して、上下左右の動きだけで奥行きのないもの（2D）と、奥行きのあるもの（3D）の2種類がある。

A match-type fighting game is a versus-type computer game in which characters
that are controlled by one human player and a computer or two human players,
usually fight one another in hand-to-hand combat (or in similar fashion).

One on one fighting game, beat 'em up game or simply abbreviated as brawlers
are also sometimes called Action fighting games. To divide them in two categories,
there are the vertical and horizontal scrollers with no depth (2D) and
the ones with depth (3D)
