種類によっては比較的簡単に作れそうにも見えるが、センスが必要だったり、サイズ調整が難しいなど、結構大変である。ニコニコ動画では、デスクトップPCやノートPCを痛PCに改造する様子を録画した動画が幾つかアップロードされている。個人によるものがほとんどだが、痛PC製作に参入する会社も存在する。
