周囲には約100平方メートルにわたって巨大な樹冠をもつガジュマルが生い茂っています。
ガジュマルは、熱帯から亜熱帯地方に分布するクワ科の常緑高木で、イチジクの仲間です。
ちなみに、屋久島が自生の北限だとされています。
幹から多数の気根を張り巡らせ、奇怪な樹形を織り成し、その景色はジャングルさながら。
