Zynga is in talks to acquire OMGPOP, the maker of massive hit Draw Something, according to a source with direct knowledge of the discussions. It’s my understanding that the talks have not yet entered the more advanced, exclusivity stage because there are still other Japanese buyers like GREE that are interested in the company.

When asked for comment, Zynga said it does not comment on rumors or speculation. Given that OMGPOP has raised around $17 million to date, I’d expect the price for this deal to be in the $150 to $250 million range. In emails over the weekend, OMGPOP chief executive Dan Porter also didn’t answer questions about interest from Japanese buyers like GREE or DeNA.

Please email me direct at the golf habit at Verizon dot net. I have some more tour issue 2011 rescue prototype heads 19 & 22 degrees and I want to send you pictures but need your direct email address. The pictures wont send through ebay system.

Right now, if you are ordering 10+ sets, we are offering to you $85 / set. However, the price of 5.5 Flighted and 6.5 non-flighted needs to be $125 / set. This is because we have very limited supply of these shafts. For the 7 sets you are ordering of 6.5 on this order, we are keeping the price at $85 / set for you to show our appreciation for your business. Please keep in mind the other price in future orders. Thank you again.

Increasingly, though, it appears Chinese consumers are willing to hold e-tailers accountable for customer service failings, and punish them accordingly. The latest evidence of this comes from a report by the Modern International Research Company, which did a nationwide China survey and found that 93 percent of Chinese consumers would stop or decrease their use of a given site if they encountered problems with returning or exchanging items purchased on that site. Specifically, 30 percent of survey respondents said a return or exchange problem would stop them from ever using the site again, and 63 percent said that it would cause them to reduce the amount they shopped on that site.

CloudFactory, From the Heights of Nepal, Can Put 1 Million Cloud Workers Into Business

CloudFactory is a fascinating business and concept, not just because it’s based in the Himalayan nation of Nepal, but because it can put one million people in developing countries – including in Nepal itself – into work on the web.

Those folks get employment doing basic computer work from their own home, while the companies that make use of the CloudFactory service get that huge human workforce to do tasks online like flagging bad content, inputting data, transcribing audio, fixing OCR, tagging images, etc. Essentially, many kinds of digitization, categorization, moderation, or even translation.

Whether it’s in an interview in the trade magazines, in the college newspaper or on TV, CEOs of successful businesses like to paint a picture that belies the truth.

In some cases, it’s a romantic veneer over how hard they work, or how calculated they go about their management and this exists in part because the public wants an easily-digestible story of how to achieve results, or that it generally makes for a good uplifting reading.

Nobody likes to read a story of a struggle that includes constant repetition, problem-solving, manufacturing defects and late deliveries — it’s just “boring”. Read: Can’t sell newspapers or fill a business school auditorium.

It is not only CEOs who spout this mantra, but business journals and marketing specialists say it everyday. “Build a great product and the customers will naturally come”, “Product Product Product” are the three key components of a successful company, and “Iterate Until Your Product is Great” are just some of the common phrases you hear in business forums.

Reality: By placing emphasis only on launching a “great” product or focusing only on product development, other key drivers in success are conveniently glossed over. Sure, a product that serves a market need, and does so well, SHOULD attain market acceptance and consumption but that is not a given outcome.

Translation

To prove my point that design matters a lot, let’s look at some obvious examples. Firstly, Apple’s Steve Jobs was well known for being addicted to design to the point of insanity. He even studied typography at Reed College at one stage and this love for designed transpired into his products. People love Apple products because they are just as equally beautiful to see, feel and touch as they are to use. In more recent examples, AirBNB’s CEO and co-founder Brian Chesky studied a Bachelor of Fine Arts in industrial design from the Rhode Island School of Design. The mobile app smart journal, Path is also a good example of why good design attracts users. All are well designed and thus loved.
