We can use Disney as a way to see into things more deeply and, for example, excite greater curiosity in learning more about the nature and people of Africa. Once a child's interest is piqued by the super-sweet view of things which Disney markets, we can bring out other aspects that tell other stories and give multiple perspectives on things. This will give children the opportunity to think beyond the Mickey Mouse view of life.
