Read 30 minutes of material related to your field each day. Instead of reading you can substitute things like listening to tapes or CDs in your car, or Web browsing, but the key is to spend time every day gaining new knowledge related to your work. The top people in any field get there and stay there by being on the cutting edge of the knowledge in their field. They get this knowledge by reading books, magazines, etc., that cover topics related to their field. Over time people come to realize that the people who keep up with their field are true experts and their reputation builds along with their income. Reading exercises your mind, much like exercise builds your body, and you need both.
